Day 4

9 pm. July 21. Fourth night of camp. With the cast lists chosen for two days, the campers wrapped up their second rehearsals. They finished a belly dancing master class. The teacher, Kelly McKinnon, (who directed a show for session 1, but who has now started rehearsals for ASC’s travelling troupe) generously offered to stay longer to teach any interested students, how to work with veils. The girls floated across the stage, with the fabric billowing behind them. McKinnon also talked of how she got into belly dancing, finally leaving well after 9:30pm. Some of the girls stayed behind to hang out and learn some Karate moves from a fellow camper. Walking up the stairs away from King, there is a camper lying on the floor with her legs up against the wall running lines with one of the counselors. This camper was cast as Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra Part 2 and while it was a surprise to her, all of the counselors are rooting for her. At the top level and passing the library, there is another pair; one camper who was cast as Antony in Antony and Cleopatra Part 2 and his counselor, running lines in the hallway.
